History and Science Departments at Ardgillan College celebrate a visit from Det. Sergent Michael Macken, C.S.I.

In June 2003 the technical bureau of the Garda Siochaina were called to a scene thought to be that of a modern day murder. Det. Sergent, Mick Macken, fingerprint expert, was part of a very unique team of archaeologists, biologists, detectives to name a few in piecing together the life of old Croghan man. Much was learned from fingerprint studies. Mick told the children of Ardgillan Community College all about fingerprints and how unique everyone’s fingerprints are. There are two sets of identical twins in Ardgillan and Mick told them that even though they look alike and have the same DNA, their fingerprints are totally different. To prove this he took their fingerprints and told everyone that he looked closely at them and they were completely different. The two sets of twins’ names were Second Year Students: Conor and Sean McCann and First Year students: Fiach and Seainin Keenan.

No escaping now boys!!
